Detect parked charging stations
|
|
As an electric car driver, this situation is certainly familiar. The system indicates an empty charging station at the next rest stop. The turn signal is set and the car is quickly driven to the charging station. And then the disillusionment, an old station wagon with at most electric windows stands there quite unabashedly in front of the charging station. The rectangular, already slightly milky headlights stoically stare into nothing, the sullen front conveys stubbornness par excelance. A quick look around, but no one seems to be the owner of this charging station blocker.

And now ?
Because the vehicle is not connected to any charging pole, the pole is considered free in the system!
Pure frustration, inward cursing of the charging station parker and on to the next charging option. The white-polished smile of the family man, who is far too good-looking for reality, on the large billboard with the inscription "10 more charging stations will soon be built here" doesn't really help... The range anxiety, which is no longer so strong but still hovers in the back of the mind, gives rise to slight doubts about the electric car system. Coupled with the sluggish expansion of charging options, frustration is pre-programmed. The few available charging options have to be shared with many others. Blocked charging stations are a major annoyance.
A possible solution
But how can you prevent such situations? For example, with our ITS-AX4 radar sensor. It reliably detects vehicles and/or persons in a self-defined zone within 6x3m. It is weatherproof and can be mounted with only one 18mm hole. It is parameterized via Bluetooth and a free app. Thus, the charging station also receives the information whether the zone in front of the charging possibility is free or occupied.
