Real-time monitoring for areas at risk of flooding

Early detection and data situation

Flooding is a natural event that occurs when water levels in rivers, lakes or seas rise above normal limits and inundate surrounding areas. This can be caused by various factors, including heavy rainfall, snowmelt, storms or the breaching of dams.

The severe weather events caused by climate change make flooding an explosive problem for the population. Various protective measures are in place to prevent these disasters:

  • Flood protection structures
Dams, dykes and retention basins can regulate the flow of water and prevent flooding.

  • Renaturation
Restoring natural river courses and floodplain landscapes can help to improve water drainage and mitigate flooding.

  • Early warning systems
Modern technologies make it possible to accurately monitor weather conditions and issue early warnings to evacuate people in good time.

As the name suggests, early warning systems detect changes at a very early stage of the flood rise. High up in the mountains, small torrents provide the first early signs of an impending rise in water levels. Properly analyzed, this data provides a good overview of the current water situation in the mountains.

The main problem with these torrents is that they are usually difficult to reach. Because of this poor accessibility, it is usually out of the question to have these streams regularly monitored by people. Monitoring the situation using sensors is therefore usually the right approach. Above all, the monitoring is holistic and records the condition 24 hours a day.

Combined data acquisition for a complete assessment of the situation

The use of different measurement methods and types of measurement provides a holistic picture of the current situation at the relevant location:

  • Water level through with distance measurement
The EM500-UDL monitors the water level using ultrasound, for example under a bridge.

  • Water level via pressure sensor
The EM500-SWL detects the water level using a pressure sensor, for example in a water reservoir.

  • Weather conditions
The weather stations in the WTS series record further data such as wind, wind direction, temperature, humidity, rainfall and barometric pressure.

Thanks to this combined data in combination with alarm triggers, the situation can be assessed very well around the clock and alarms can be raised immediately if necessary. This system therefore makes a very good contribution to protecting the population from flooding.

Let's go for it!

Do I need programming skills or a technical background?

No, you don't need it!

Thanks to our all-round carefree package, we work with you to develop the view of the platform, add all devices and pair them with the corresponding gateway.

All you have to do is attach the sensors to the desired location and the system is ready to go!

You can make small adjustments to the platform yourself at any time, the system is very intuitive.

Some highlights of the system

IP67 Rated and UV Resistant

The device is boasted with an exceptional IP67 and UV resistance performance that allows it to perform superbly even in harsh working environments, making it ideal for industrial and outdoor applications like ski resorts, manufacturing industries, and more.
