Save energy and costs through optimized route planning in waste management

Avoid empty runs and overfilled containers

As urban populations grow, so does the challenge of ensuring efficient waste management. Traditional waste management systems often rely on fixed collection schedules, which leads to unnecessary fuel consumption, higher operating costs and a negative environmental impact.

This is exactly where our intelligent waste management comes in. The biggest challenges to good waste management are:

Terminplanung

Fixed collection schedules

Conventional waste management is based on fixed collection schedules that may not match the actual fill level of the bins. This leads to unnecessary collections and waste.

Routenplanung

Inefficient routing

Without real-time data on the fill level of waste garbage cans, waste collection routes are often predetermined and cannot be optimized. This can lead to increased fuel consumption, higher operating costs and traffic congestion.

Überfüllte Container

Overflowing trash containers

Fixed schedules can lead to overflowing bins, especially during peak usage times. Overflowing bins pose a risk to the environment and public health as the waste can be scattered and the area becomes unsightly.

Different scenarios, each with different solutions

Urban environment with collection points comprising several containers

At traditional collection points, there are several containers for, for example, used glass, cans, cardboard, plastic, etc. Here it makes sense to collect the data from the individual containers centrally using a gateway and transmit it to the platform. This means that only one 4G connection is required per collection area, which optimizes running costs.

This is what a data collection concept in urban areas looks like:

And this is what your overview of the data looks like, for example:

Far away, single waste containers or bins

Another useful waste management option involves monitoring very remote containers or waste garbage cans, as these usually require a great deal of effort to empty. With our EM400 IoT sensor, you can reliably monitor the following parameters:

  • Fill level
You always know exactly how full the container is at any given time

  • Temperature
Is the waste container on fire?

  • The condition of the container
Is the lid of the container open or is the entire container lying on the floor?

This is what a data collection concept looks like in remote regions:

The information obtained can now be used to create the optimum routes for waste disposal. Empty runs or overfilled waste garbage cans will be a thing of the past.

In addition to the financial benefits, the continuous collection of measurement data also offers the opportunity to react flexibly to unforeseeable circumstances. During the vacation season, some collection points may be used very infrequently, so emptying them later would make sense. The freed-up vehicles could then be used on the other side of the city at a major event where the waste garbage cans are used more than average.

Overall, the systematic collection of measurement data is a decisive step towards a sustainable energy future.

Let's go for it!

Do I need programming skills or a technical background?

No, you don't need it!

Thanks to our all-round carefree package, we work with you to develop the view of the platform, add all devices and pair them with the corresponding gateway.

All you have to do is attach the sensors to the desired location and the system is ready to go!

You can make small adjustments to the platform yourself at any time, the system is very intuitive.

Some highlights of the system

Dual Ultrasonic Sensor

With dual ultrasonic beams, the advanced EM310-UDL measures from 3 cm up to 450 cm, thus has ultra-short blind zone.

Device Motion Detection

Built-in 3-axis accelerometer allows you to recognize objects' movement efficiently and reliably.
